NANTUCKET, MA — A woman who was pinned beneath a vehicle in a crash at a Nantucket grocery store parking lot has died, and police say the driver involved now faces criminal charges. The crash happened June 29 at the Stop & Shop lot in the island’s downtown area.
Authorities said the victim, Stacey J. Rosen, was 62 and from Atlantic Beach, New York. She was taken to Nantucket Cottage Hospital after the collision but later died from her injuries, police said Friday.
What happened at the Stop & Shop parking lot?
Police said the incident was reported around 1:25 p.m. as a crash involving a pedestrian. When officers arrived, they found two vehicles had collided and a woman was fully underneath one of them.
Investigators have not said exactly how the sequence of events unfolded, but the scene involved both the vehicle collision and the pedestrian being trapped. The crash took place in a busy commercial parking lot near downtown Nantucket.

Police identified the driver charged Friday as Kathleen M. Featherston, 62, of Fairfield, Connecticut. She was charged with negligent operation and motor vehicle homicide by negligent operation, according to authorities.

What do police say about the victim’s injuries?
Rosen was first taken to Nantucket Cottage Hospital after the crash. Police later confirmed that she died nearly two weeks after the June 29 incident from the injuries she suffered in the parking lot.
The death turned what had been a serious injury case into a criminal matter involving a fatality, according to the Friday update from police.

Police have not announced further details about court proceedings, and no additional information about the cause of the crash was provided in the report. The case remains active following the charges filed Friday.
