WATERBURY, CT — A teenager died and several other people were injured after a two-car crash on Chase Avenue in Waterbury early Sunday, according to police. Officers were called to the scene around 1 a.m. as investigators began piecing together what happened.
What do investigators say happened on Chase Avenue?
Police said a Subaru Legacy carrying two passengers and a Mazda 3I carrying two passengers collided. The crash happened on Chase Avenue, but investigators have not yet released a cause or said which vehicle may have crossed into the other’s path.
Who died in the crash?
One of the people in the Mazda, later identified as 18-year-old Luis Cisneros Fletes of Waterbury, died from his injuries. Police have not said whether he was the driver or a passenger.
How badly were the others hurt?
Police said the Mazda driver is in critical condition with life-threatening injuries, while the other Mazda passenger is in stable condition with non-life-threatening injuries. The driver and two passengers in the Subaru were taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
