The main concern is damaging wind, along with periods of heavy rain and the possibility of flash flooding, especially farther south. Storms may continue on and off from the afternoon into midnight before tapering off overnight.

StormTeam 5 meteorologist David Williams said strong to severe storms could develop from now through midnight, with gusty winds and heavy rain the most likely threats.
He also said a small tornado risk cannot be ruled out, with the greatest chance farther west in the state. Lightning remains part of the threat picture as the storm line develops.

In the Boston area, intermittent downpours are expected during the mid and late afternoon, roughly between 2 p.m. and 10 p.m. The rain should then exit overnight as the system pulls away.
