LOWER MAKEFIELD TOWNSHIP, PA — Lower Makefield Township police released a weekly blotter covering theft, fraud and disorderly conduct reports across the township. The most serious incident listed was a traffic stop that led to drug arrests on West Trenton Avenue and Plaza Boulevard.
The report also included shoplifting complaints at McCaffrey’s Food Market, fraud attempts tied to bank and Amazon accounts, and two public drunkenness citations at Shady Brook Farm.
What happened during the traffic stop on West Trenton Avenue and Plaza Boulevard?
Police said officers on patrol stopped a vehicle for violations at 4:02 p.m. on July 3. Further investigation led to the arrest of a 47-year-old man from Levittown and a 48-year-old woman from Lower Makefield Township.
According to the blotter, both were charged with possession of methamphetamine, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they were taken into custody.
What theft complaints did police list at McCaffrey’s Food Market?
Two separate retail theft reports were logged at the 600 block of Heacock Road store. On July 8, police said a man tried to leave with $649.31 in merchandise before employees confronted him and he left the cart behind.
The report said the man fled in an Acura MDX and that the investigation is continuing. A second complaint, reported July 7, said energy drinks worth $386.43 were taken from the store on June 19 without payment.
How were residents targeted in the fraud cases?
Police listed two fraud complaints on July 3 and one more on July 8. In one case, a resident said someone pretending to be from a bank urged the creation of a temporary account and a transfer of $18,000, but the bank flagged the transaction before any money was lost.
Another resident reported that an Amazon account was accessed and used to place about $30 in orders. In the July 8 case, a caller claiming to represent a bank said the victim’s account was compromised and instructed them to send $500 through a CVS “Pay it Here” service.
Why were people cited at Shady Brook Farm?
Police said they were working a security detail at the 900 block of Stony Hill Road when they were told about people who had returned after being removed and were causing a disturbance. A 23-year-old man from Levittown was cited for public drunkenness.
In a separate incident at 9:30 p.m. the same night, officers were advised of an intoxicated subject and cited a 22-year-old man from Langhorne for public drunkenness.
