GREENWICH, CT — Greenwich police are investigating a deadly crash that unfolded early Saturday after an officer saw a Lexus LS400 traveling east on Delavan Avenue at about 50 mph in a 25 mph zone. Police said the car then went through a red light at Delavan Avenue and Frontage Road.
The officer tried to follow the vehicle to make a stop. A short time later, crews found the car badly damaged after it hit a utility pole on W. Ritch Avenue near the Byram Shore Tennis Courts.

Emergency crews from Greenwich police, fire and EMS responded to the collision. Officials said the driver was removed from the vehicle but died from injuries sustained in the crash.
