SAUGERTIES, NY — A 93-year-old Catskill man died after a crash involving a dump truck on Route 32 in Saugerties, according to police. The collision happened June 4 around 1 p.m. and left investigators still piecing together how the vehicles came together.
What did police say about the crash on Route 32?
Police said a 2022 Volkswagen was traveling south on Route 32 when it struck a 1988 Freightliner dump truck. The truck was being driven by a 57-year-old Palenville man who was turning from Route 32 onto Old Route 32 at the time of the crash.
Who was the driver who died?
The driver of the Volkswagen was identified by police as Robert Goldberg of Catskill. He was transported to HealthAlliance Hospital in Kingston after the crash and later died while receiving treatment there.
