Moulin Rouge on Broadway

Moulin Rouge is one of the best Broadway shows I have ever seen. This is a truly amazing production that draws you in from the moment you enter the Al Hirschfeld Theatre with its costumes and burst of color—and it doesn’t let go until the encore ends.   Whether you love Broadway for the music, costumes, choreography, drama, set design or something else, Moulin Rouge does not disappoint.

The set designers have recreated the Moulin Rouge Club, which opened in Paris in 1889. This is an exciting night club with loud music, dancing, singing, outrageous costumes and two doomed lovers—Satine (played by Natalie Mendoza) and Christian (played by Aaron Tveit).  Serving as the ringmaster of the Moulin Rouge is Harold Zider (played by Danny Burstein), who keeps everyone entertained, on point and sets the tone with his infectious enthusiasm.

The sellout crowds and unmatched performances have not gone unnoticed. At this year’s Tony Awards, Moulin Rouge received 14 nominations and took home 10 awards, including Best Musical, Best Performance by a Leading Actor in a Musical,  Best Performance by a Featured Actor in a Musical, Best Choreography, and Best Costume Design.

With a fast paced mashup of 70 songs ranging from Elton John, Rihanna, Katy Perry, to the Rolling Stones, Queen, U2, and more, this is one highly engaging and exciting show you won’t forget!
