The Andrus Holiday Party, which ran from 3:30 to 5:30 after school on Wednesday, December 3rd, was a holiday party for children at the Andrus Residential for children who cannot live at home.

The ninth-grade representatives worked diligently to make sure the Andrus Holiday Party ran smoothly.  The Andrus Residential School is for children who can’t live at home for various reasons. Each child living there wrote down three things they wanted, and our school bought a gift for each one. Seeing smiles on all of their faces brought great joy to all the Bronxville volunteers. 

The party, which went on from 3:30 to 5:30 after school on Wednesday, December 3rd, was a huge success! Reindeer ears, Santa hats, and elf hats were handed out at the start of the party, and the room was filled with decorative paper snowflakes, a refreshments table, a dance circle, musical chairs, an arts and crafts table, cornhole, and a game table. The Bronxville students partnered with one or two of the Andrus kids, who ranged in age from six to thirteen, and together, they traveled to each activity. Around the end of the festivities, some choir students came in to sing Christmas carols. When it was present time, Bronxville freshman Sean Mcgrath handed out presents to each of the children.

By the end of the day, connections formed as the event bridged together two different communities, truly embodying the holiday spirit.
