Fall Sports

Teddy Dolan

Like so many things, Bronxville fall sports will look different this year during the Covid-19 pandemic. Last year, Karen Peterson, our previous athletic director, retired after 22 years of amazing service and dedication to the Bronxville School; its students, coaches and community.   She is succeeded by our new Athletic Director, Joe Haven. Mr. Haven has been an Athletic Director for 15 years and he has been the President of Section 3 in New York state. He also spent 12 years as an art teacher and played football and lacrosse at the high school level. The Bronxville School is thrilled to welcome Mr. Haven to our school and community.

At the moment, the fall sports that aren’t postponed are: boys and girls cross country, boys and girls soccer, girls tennis, and girls swimming. They have been delayed to a September 29th start. Usually, the fall season begins in the middle of August but this year, because of the pandemic, there is a month and a half delay. There will also be a ten day preseason for the fall sports starting in September.

Unfortunately the fall sports that are postponed until March are: football, volleyball and cheerleading in New York state. However, here at Bronxville, we only have football. Now that these sports are postponed, there are now two fall seasons. The first fall season starts on September 29th and ends in mid November. The winter season, as of right now, starts on November 30th and will end in late February. The second fall season will be from March first to April 16th. The spring season will start April 19th and go through the middle of June. This year may look a little different but we are ready for the challenge.
